Center for Constitutional Issues in Technology
CCIT is a nonprofit foundation formed as a member of
the Foresight family of organizations to provide a
specific focus for research, thinking, discussion, and
ultimately advocacy in the area of public policy affected
by, and influencing, the emergence of nanotechnology.
CCIT's first project was an examination of the expected
effects of nanotechnology on the standards and
information issues in the field of medicine, funded by
the US Pharmacopoeia (USP) Convention, the
nongovernmental pharmacological standards-setting
organization in the United States.
CCIT is now defining a number of research projects that
will provide the first serious examination of policy
questions in regard to upcoming issues stimulated by the
emergence of molecular manufacturing. One key area is
expected to be that of computer security, or "trusty
computing."
