Genetic diseases, virtually untouched by conventional medicine, will be easily cured through nanomedicine. Once the specific genetic flaws that caused these diseases are understood, it will be a simple task for a nanosubmarine to extend a chromosome-editing tool into a cell and edit the sequence of molecules in the genes to correct the error. A fleet of billions or trillions of nanomachines could repair all of the cells in a body in a few days or even hours.
The original caption for this image reads: "A nanosub proofreads the genetic information in six cells simultaneously." |
