This is an abstract for a presentation given at the
Sixth Foresight Conference on Molecular Nanotechnology.
There will be a link from here to the full article when it is available on the web.

Novel simply and multiply connected forms of silicon and carbon clusters are investigated using a generalized tight-binding molecular dynamics (GTBMD) scheme. These forms can be derived from fullerenes and are local minima of total energy. They can be used as building blocks of new forms of bulk materials that are very close in stability to the diamond phases of Si and C. Furthermore, the new forms proposed can be used to construct stable binary SiC clusters with unusual properties.
