&lt;p&gt;Personally I think that Smalley&#039;s skepticism, while mostly inaccurate, is still needed. However it is interesting, if very sad, to hear that he is afflicated with cancer. I wonder if that drives his skepticism. Maybe he doesn&#039;t want to give himself false hope that medical technology, nevermind nano, will find a cure for his cancer before he dies. It&#039;s rather harsh to point that out but it did spring to my mind.&lt;/p&gt;
