&lt;p&gt;I guess the AFM array used in this storage device could be used to construct molecules/structures 1024 times faster than a single AFM tip. I think the real performance gains while be realized when this device can be shrunk to sub-micron dimensions and blasted in bulk into silicon chips. Then we could have tens of thousands of these arrays constructing things.&lt;/p&gt;
