China to construct 100 world class universities

Interestingly, the NY Times is documenting that China intends to build 100 world class research institutions [1] (perhaps increased from the number of 50 that Ray Kurzweil had a few months ago). The United States may have 17 of the top 20 Universities in the world now [2] but if its current policies continue that seems unlikely to remain true for long.
