"When we say responsible nanotechnology or nanotechnology ethics, what do we really mean?"

At CRN, we've defined what we mean by 'responsible'. See http://crnano.typepad.com/crnblog/2006/02/what_does_respo.html

Hi

That set me thinking ...
1) When we say responsible nanotechnology or nanotechnology ethics, what do we really mean? Do we mean that we will not allow nanotechnology to put its nanofeet into warfare completely? Is it possible to keep a promisingly revolutionary technology to affect all realms of life except for national defence? I think that means we deny "wars happen". We did move from stones to swords to knives to guns to missiles. Didn't we?

Just thoughts ...

2) And for more on Abdul Kalam, about what are his views or what mindset he comes from here's a link -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Kalam and specifically read the text under- "Dr Kalam’s silent work to make healthcare affordable".

Um, don't forget that Kalam also might be called the first Nano Arms Race President -- see http://crnano.typepad.com/crnblog/2004/07/the_arms_race_h.html

We are indeed proud to have such a great president who clearly understands the importance of such a
great field like nanotechnlogy!
