I'm currently study in year 12 which is the last year of my high school. I'm interested in nanotech but when i did some research, it results me a lot of 'nanobiotech'. I'm not taking Biology as one of my major in high school. Can you give me some info about universities that's good in nanotech education as a major (worldwide)? It might help me a lot. Thanks

I have the same question here (which would be the best university/ies to study/get a PhD in Nanotechnology), but I have more time.. about 10 years actually, since it's for my daughter (just starting school), whom I'm planning to suggest this field....
so if you could give me a "currently these are the forerunners, but in 10 years these should be much better" estimation, it would be fine...
also, what field do you think would be best?? I mean, engineering + biology?? or what?? so I know what she should select in high school/grad school etc..

many thanks in advance

I don't think nano is quite ready for it's own department yet. I mean Bioengineering is just starting to become a recognized major as or recently and that's seen commercial application for 20 years.

Yes, there has been a debate in the U.S. on whether to make nanotech its own department or not. Many professors worry that having a new nanotech department could lead to students being given a broad survey without sufficient depth. —Christine

All the schools that are listed for Nanotech programs are top rated. But only Rice and university of Albany awards nanotech degrees and the rest of the listed universities have included only some of the nanotech subjects in their various degree programs curriculum. About six universities in UK now provide degrees in nanotechnology including PhD but whereas in US only two univerisites provide the masters n 5 universities for PhD in Nanotechnology.
