Christine was merely attempting to get a discussion going and has had Mark and I speak several times at Foresight conferences on the topic. Christine has been around the nanotech industry for quite a while and your characterization that she is "profoundly ignorant" is nasty. I suggest you apologize. I also suggest your think (or at least learn) about who you insult publicly, given that you "self profess" to represent the interests of small inventors. Several of my clients fall into that category, but your ignorance about my practice appears not to be an inhibition to your poor commentary. It pains me to think that your vulgar style is being applied to people on Capitol Hill to the detriment of those client's interests. Nice work, Mr. President. Let's raise the quality level of discussion in this blog or it will slide into irrelevance, the only benefit being it will take Mr. Riley's commentary with it. Mr. Riley, if you have anything specifically relevant to say about IBM's comments in the San Jose Mercury, please share it with us. The top IP law expert in America is Professor Irving Kayton and 75% of patent practioners have taken his classes. If you want to see nanotech stagnate then go ahead and implement the agenda of the patent pirating washed up tech companies who are desperate to eviscerate the patent system to avoid the consequences of their larcenous conduct. No one invests in bringing technology to market if parasites can swoop in and take their investment for nothing. That is what so called patent reform is about. I urge real innovators to contact us and join our efforts to hand those companies who think they can reform the patent system to one where they take what they want, when they want their heads just like we did to them during the patent reform fight which raged throughout the nineteen-nineties.
