jim moore,

I see no evidence that The Futurist has written any of the things that you claim. Your lack of an actual link exposes your fraud.

The Futurist has well-reasoned backing for all his points. It seems that only a few articles are political. Given his Singularity articles, I dare say he knows a lot more about evolution and science than you do.

It seems it is you who has the problem of ideological fanaticism (as well as envy of The Futurist), seeing as how you inserted your own political beliefs here, when it has nothing to do with the topic. Or do you hate The Futurist only because he is not white?

Josh,
How can you expect us to take the Futurist blog seriously? That dude is calling folks fifth columnist traitors because they think that the USA should obey the international treaties it has ratified. The dude's thinking is completely unhinged; the unthinking right wing nonsense on his blog discredits everything else on his site. I half expect to see a post attacking "Darwinists" as just as bad as biblical literalist ;-)

Eugene,

But that is what people have been saying for 10 years.

There will be advances, yes, but not quite as fast as you are suggesting.

The advances in NanoMedicine directed towards the treatment of malignancies and eradication of viruses over the next 5-10 years will rival advances in any other period in recorded medical history. The National Cancer Institute's Nanotechnology Initiative found at "nano.cancer.gov" is a perfect case in point

J Storrs,

Thanks for the exposure. I do believe that Feb 2005-Dec 2008 was a Nanotech depression that few people noticed, due to the lack of publicly traded Nanotech companies. But when a major research report just stops publishing, and no major magazine does a cover feature on Nanotech for 4 years, that is a pretty substantial dropoff.

We can thus look forward to many upside surprises in Nanotech from 2009-2015.
