I recall trying to argue that before drexlerian nanotech officially happens, much of the accomplishments that drexlerian nanotech would accomplish(extreme life extension, opening the space frontier, even cleaning up the environment or at least becoming pretty much environmentally friendly) would be for the most part accomplished. Here's part one; dna(now dna/rna) nanotech can accomplish much of the medical nanotech.

But, could a.i. come sufficiently to make the other affect of drexlerian nanotech almost mute? It takes a.i. to pretty much make human manual labor almost a thing of the past; also, sufficient a.i. can pretty much make the accellerated technological affect that drexler envisions as possible with his daimondoid nanotech. We'll be able to do pretty much everything we need to do without all the ethical concerns(except for the anti-science and high technology concerns).

I'd go with Arthur C. Clark and go all the way down to the bottom of some ocean somewhere; well, maybe just have some underwater house around a coral somewhere; that way, you dont' have to go far to get to the surface; you could then have your advanced nano-boat; but also! Because you or I have an underwater house, we could have a tube connection to an astronomical observatory perched up beyond the water! This way, also, you could have the pressure equal in the underwater home to the outside; you could just take an elevator to the obsevatory every night!

I have this dream of having a totally-self contained "Nano Yacht", made from self-repairing diamondoid/fullerene composite materials, powered by a solar-electric hydrogen from water conversion system, and complete with nano food replicator and systems that allow me to extract materials, food material, and energy from the ocean itself. You would never have to dock at a port unless you wanted to, and, you can also unfold or grow from the molecular level your own temporary or permanent island, made from a sort of diamondoid "Artificial Coral". How do you all like this idea?

Ninety days? I seem to recall Zyvex mentioning something about a boat before. Maybe they made some kind of breakthrough and then they're boat making dreams went into an accellerated development cycle?

Ninety days? They (zyvex) clearly went with the money first on this one; but, when will they build space rockets? Imagine whatever technology they're using(somehow I don't think they've quite released knowledge of everything they've done since they posted some interesting micromachines and they're last report about placing fifty atoms a second) to build a space rocket with that new swedish rocket fuel(I'm kindof surprised I havn't heard much about this since I read it however many months ago - possibly a year now). They supposedly had a rocket fuel that is environmentaly friendly and thirty percent more powerfull than oxygen/hydrogen(i'm thinking that's what they mean by rocket fuel)
