Josh Wolfe: premature to regulate nanotech
Foresight's Judy Conner points us at an essay by Josh Wolfe at Forbes.com: "Nanotech is still in its infancy, and scientists are just beginning to understand how it can be used to improve products and processes in fields ranging from semiconductors to medicine and energy. The last thing it needs is a 'societal debate' and intense government scrutiny. How can you intelligently discuss and regulate something that is still in the discovery and development stage, before it really exists in a practical manufacturing sense?"

Hypocrites
I was under the impression that Foresight supported regulation of nanotechnology due the 'script kiddies'. Personally, I find that to be absurd…regulation is just another means to keep the technology in the hands of the few.
But, regulation isn't going to work…just like locks on doors don't necessarily keep everyone from gaining entry; it just keeps the honest people out.

You mean in the hands of the few who actually want to do something useful with it, as opposed to the hands of Kadamose who wants to destroy the world?

As long as it keeps you out, I think it's a pretty good idea.

'Destroy' is such a harsh word…'Cleanse' is more suitable to describe my ambitions.

I think that's what Adolf Hitler called his ambitions.

Perhaps…but I'm not out to eliminate the Jews or any other race for that matter. I simply want the human reproductive system shut down permanently. It is a necessary evil.
The 'new' transhuman race will have no need for such facilities anyway.
