Donation
Make a general, unrestricted donation to Foresight Institute โ we will use it where it’s needed most.
Donations
This section describes the usage of the Donations module, which is responsible for displaying fundraising template. This module works together with events.foresight.org, a platform used for ticketing mechanisms and gathering donations. Before proceeding to configure donations here, make sure you have created campaigns and forms there.
Donations can be configured in the dedicated CPT. To create a new donation, add a new entry, modify the automatically pre-filled content, set a post thumbnail that is used for the progress bar, and fill settings at the bottom of the screen. You’ll need a campaign ID and URL to a page that hosts a payment form for a specific donation on events.foresight.org. You can leave the Raised, Goal, and Last Sync fields empty, since they will be synced.
The module implements a mechanism that automatically synchronizes the current donation goal and status using the GiveWP plugin available on events.foresight.org twice a day. It queries the API using the Campaign ID set in the configuration, retrieves the current Progress and Goal when available, and sets it in the donation config. The system automatically handles synchronization, so any manual changes made to the Goal or Raised fields on foresight.org will be overwritten with data from events.foresight.org.
To find a proper ID, run this query and look up the value in the ‘id’ field.

The Existential Hope Meme Prize is a competition that invites creators to show what a thriving, technologically advanced future could actually look like, by compressing these visions into memes, short videos, and other easy-to-share media. Our goal is to give positive and scientifically grounded futures the same cultural power as the many prevailing dystopian references that are out there today.
The inaugural 2025 edition achieved strong online reach, drew almost 400 submissions, and attracted high-caliber judges, including Steven Pinker, Liv Boeree, and Jason Crawford.ย Your support allows us to turn this from a one-off success into a recurring program. A contribution enables us to:
- Run the competition again in 2026
- Maintain and grow the $10,000 award pool
- Expand our outreach to engage wider audiences
By backing the Meme Prize, you invest in making constructive visions of the future easier to see, share, and act on.
Our virtual seminars bring together leading researchers and builders to explore the frontiers of biotechnology, nanotechnology, neurotechnology, space, and AI. The seminars:
- Expand access to knowledge about the latest breakthroughs across fields
- Connect emerging projects with collaborators and streamline the talent pipeline
- Strengthen early-stage research ecosystems by creating mission-aligned communities
With up to 100 live participants per session, and recordings reaching 100,000+ YouTube views, the seminars have become a global hub for ambitious STEM communities, ensuring open access to cutting-edge science and technology.
By supporting our seminars, you can help remove key bottlenecks in early science and technology R&D. Funding directly covers the coordination, speaker outreach, and production costs that the seminars possible, enabling more frequent, higher-quality seminars with broader reach.
While speculative, it is hard to overstate the potential of whole brain emulation (WBE). It could enable better treatments for neurological disorders, digital longevity, space exploration, and decrease risks from AGI/ASI. Given its potential, the field gets too little funding. As one of few organizations actively supporting WBE R&D, and with our network of leading scientists built up from years of Fellows, grantees and workshops in the domain, we are in a unique position to advance the field.
We are fundraising for an endowment to support:
- Fast grants that unblock promising WBE research and accelerate experimentation
- A $20M Grand Prize for achieving the first complete emulation of a human brain
Both fast grants and grand prizes have proven effective in accelerating scientific progress and attracting top talent. By combining them, the endowment will enable annual funding for multiple high-potential projects, alongside the landmark $20M prize to inspire shot on goal.
By supporting this initiative, you help lay the foundation for what could become one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs of the century.
The Foresight Fellowship is a one-year program for outstanding junior talent. With a 6% acceptance rate, it is among the most selective programs in its field โ a reflection of its impact and reputation. While the current program delivers strong support, many Fellows report that early project funding remains their biggest bottleneck.
We are fundraising for a Fellowship Endowment to be able to provide Fellows with project stipends. The endowment would give them the freedom to move quicker from idea to experimentation, prototyping, and first builds. Examples of what our Fellows are working on, and where the Endowment would accelerate progress:
- Creating novel materials that use molecular machinery for macroscale mechanical function
- Using synthetic biology to extend human physiological limits
- Developing computing infrastructure inspired by the brain
By supporting the Fellowship Endowment, you directly empower the next generation of innovators shaping our shared future.
Our technical workshops gather carefully curated groups of leading researchers, builders, and funders to solve the bottlenecks at the frontiers of science and technology. We will host two workshops in 2026:
- AI for Science: AI is starting to generate hypotheses, design experiments, and automate science, from designing molecules to mapping the brain. This workshop gathers leaders in AI-first science to collaborate on using AI for discovery in neurotechnology, longevity biotechnology, molecular nanotechnology, and to improve scientific and epistemic infrastructure.
- AI for Safety: AI is transforming how we discover, build, and secure the future. To ensure this power serves humanity, not just a few centralized actors, we must direct AIโs capabilities toward advancing safety, security, and privacy in a world where many AIs and humans cooperate. This workshop gathers top talents at the frontier of AI-first safety, where AI becomes the engine of defense, to collaborate across AI for security, privacy and decentralized and cooperative AI.
By supporting the workshops, you enable an important forum for leading experts to collaborate on the most pressing bottlenecks in AI for science and safety. You also subsidize attendance for exceptional emerging talent who otherwise wouldnโt be able to join. Additionally, you contribute to the grant we award at the workshop โ funding for the most promising project the participants come up with to advance the field.

The Vision Weekend conferences are our flagship events. They gather leading researchers, builders, and funders to explore cutting-edge science and tech, and enjoy immersive social and cultural experiences like cypherpunk evenings, art installations, and lab tours. These events have a strong track record of matching researchers for collaborations, early-stage entrepreneurs with their first investors, and startups with early employees. By supporting our Vision Weekends, you help catalyze new collaborations in frontier science and tech, and subsidize attendance for exceptional emerging talent who otherwise wouldnโt be able to join. Celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2026, we are hosting no less than three Vision Weekends!
